Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy gave his mom, Nicky Jones, an unforgettable birthday surprise during their game against the New Orleans Saints on October 7. 

As Jones proudly cheered for her son at Arrowhead Stadium, Worthy scored a three-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, helping the Chiefs secure a 26-13 victory and marking their fifth consecutive win of the season. 

After taking a handoff from tight end Travis Kelce, Worthy sprinted to the end zone and immediately ran to the stands to present his mom with the game ball, sharing a touching hug in the process. The Chiefs captured this special moment in a clip shared on X, captioning it, "Celebrating mom's birthday with a touchdown 🫶."

Lisa Salters, the sideline reporter for Monday Night Football, highlighted their close bond, saying, “Xavier says his mom Nicky is his best friend. He mentioned that she had him when she was 18, making her like a sister to him. Their relationship is incredibly close, and he credits her for being there every step of the way.”

This season marks Worthy's debut following his impressive 4.21-second 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. He even received a nod of support from Travis Kelce's girlfriend, Taylor Swift, who liked a video of him being drafted.

Nicky Jones actively supports her son on social media, often tweeting during games. In a heartfelt January 2024 post, she expressed, “Being your mom is one of my greatest joys in life!” She praised him for representing their family and city well, remaining humble through challenges.

With a bye week ahead, Worthy and the Chiefs are set to face the San Francisco 49ers on October 20.
