### Singer Robbie Williams Performs at Charity Gala in Berlin

Almost every music biopic follows a familiar pattern: chronicling a musician or band's rise, fall, and the creation of their hits. It’s time for a fresh approach.
Director Michael Gracey, known for *The Greatest Showman*, and British pop star Robbie Williams believe they have a unique solution with their upcoming film, *Better Man*.
In an unconventional twist, Williams, 50, will not be portrayed in human form. Instead, a CGI monkey will represent him, with actor Jonno Davies, 32, providing the motion capture and voice for the character, while Williams himself handles the singing.
While this concept may seem outlandish, Williams and Gracey discussed the rationale behind this creative decision in an interview with *Vanity Fair*. Gracey explained, “To see himself as a performing monkey wasn’t just about his fame—it reflected his entire life. He was always putting on a performance in his hometown.”
The biopic's logline describes the film as showcasing “the meteoric rise, dramatic fall, and remarkable resurgence of British pop superstar Robbie Williams, one of the greatest entertainers of all time.”
Williams first gained fame as a member of Take That, the most successful boy band in U.K. chart history, boasting 12 No. 1 singles and over 14 million albums sold. After leaving the group in 1995, he embarked on a solo career, achieving seven No. 1 hits in the U.K. Among his 13 solo albums, six rank among the top 100 biggest-selling albums in the U.K.
Williams has also been open about his struggles with mental health and alcohol, sharing his experiences in an autobiographical mini-series on Netflix.
